Fight BC's HST
Here in BC, our Liberal leaders decided to deliberately lie to us. During their election campaign last year, they promised that they would not introduce the HST. Within two weeks of of being re-elected, they announced that the HST would be effective 1 July 2010. This is nothing more than a(nother) regressive tax-grab - likely so they can use the federal $1.6B HST "incentive" to pay down their deficit.
Intolerable. Fortunately, there appears to be a very large contingent that's as pissed off as I am. Do your part; visit Fight For BC; Fight Against HST, find your local petition location, and sign it!
Hey, Liberals! If you want to eliminate the deficit, how about something useful like a progressive or flat tax? Your deficit could likely be removed in two years - all the while being socially responsible. Might get rid of the socially irresponsible businesses, and attract the opposite... Hey! Why am I giving these ideas to the Liberals?
[update 17 April 2010] And now, the Libs want to use our tax dollars to promote increasing our taxes. Unbelievable, but true. I'm not an NDPer, but have decided that Carole James is taking the right approach on this.
[update 30 May 2010] We're soooooooo close!
[update 6 June 2010] We've reached the 10% mark to ensure the Libs have to do something about the HST, and are rapidly approaching the 15% safety margin. Way to go, BC!
[update 29 June 2010] We have exceeded the 15% target by 163%! Try to ignore that, Libs!
